Submitting your website to most of these Search Engines (SE) & Directories is still free, however this is changing. Some sites now charge you for your submissions. Some have a combination of free submissions and/or paid submissions. We've tried to find the free submission page, but don't be surprised if you end up at a page that asks you for money. The days of the free internet are over. (Sorry to say, but it's reality.) We've added the Alexa Ranking** and 12 month trend to better help you decide if payment is worth it.

Also remember, you need to optimzie your keyword to those words people are actually using to search for your product or service. How do you know what people are looking for? You use Word Tracker. Sign up for an account, and use the general search to enter words your site is about. They will then give you a list of words people use to search for those items, including words and phrase you are not aware of, how many people are looking for that item, and additional search words people use to find the items. [This is must join website, no "and's, if's, or but's," if you want to get good positions in the search engines. To submit your site without knowing this information is just a waste of a months worth of your time. ]

We no longer support Google. Google is no longer the best search engine, but now a huge popularity contest. Also, while it's true Google has 60-75% of the searches, only 1/3 of those come from within the US. If you take that into account, you see Google only has about 20-25% of the US search market. Also, Google's recent changes in it's search results are directly related to their IPO. By mixing up the search results, (Just before Christmas time) it forced a lot of people to buy "ad words" (Googles text base advertising) thus boosting their bottom line just in time for Wall Street. A lot of people were hurt by this. Lastly, there are some very strong concerns over your privacy and your use of Google. Google retains every search of every person and this information is held for ... no one knows how long. Google has "no comment." There is also speculation that the US government has access to this information. Google Watch does a nice job of presenting the information you need to know about google.
